Carpenter Ants Always Keep Their New Year’s Resolutions
Now that the LA Fitness in Oakdale is returning to its normal busy-ness as New Year’s Resolutions seem to be forgotten, the ever-working carpenter ant continues to work hard to ensure its colony’s success. In fact, as long as carpenter ants have a heat source, they will work year-round without fail…if only we could be so motivated!
Size Matters
Carpenter ants are among the largest ants in Minnesota. Winged queen ants may be as large as one inch! Because of their size, carpenter ants can be easier to detect and control…if you know what you’re looking for. Signs that indicate an active nest could include small piles of course sawdust or wood shavings, consistent indoor sightings of large numbers of worker ants, or large numbers of winged ants indoors. Carpenter ants typically swarm from late winter through spring.
Find Them Before They Find You
Oakdale is full of natural tree growth which naturally includes countless pockets of deadfall both large and small. This environment is the ideal breeding grounds for carpenter ant colonies as they do their job in nature. These factors combine to create a beautiful Oakdale city that is crawling with carpenter ants, so it’s vital to locate and treat their nesting areas…especially if they are nesting inside your home. A carpenter ant colony never rests, and neither should you to ensure your home is carpenter ant free.
