MUD CREATIONS
Here in Minneapolis it seems that water is everywhere; we have so many lakes to choose from. There is a lot of fun that can be had with all the water we have around. In fact, do you remember when you were little and you would play with mud? You would make mud pies, mud castles, and anything else your imagination could come up with. Remember your mom would get upset and tell you to stop making a mess of her yard and sidewalk and don’t even think about tracking any of that mud inside? Well now you’re the adult and you have your own home and suddenly that mud isn’t appealing to you anymore. In fact, that mud is downright bothersome and you don’t want any part of it. But you look up and see these nests made of mud under your eaves, around your porch and in your garage. Rightfully so, you are upset. What is disrespecting you and making a mess of your home?
THANKS A LOT MUD DAUBERS
Mud daubers are what those pesky insects are called. They do just what their name implies, they dabble in mud artistry just like your past habits; except their creations aren’t so cute and you can clearly see that. Mud daubers rarely sting, rather they are considered more of a nuisance pest and it is quite obvious why. Lucky for you, they are not social insects so they don’t live in colonies. Unlucky for you, if you were to crack open a nest you would find the spiders they feed on and the larva they have nested inside; up to 25 eggs can be inside one nest – that’s a lot of larva.
NO MORE MUD! NO MORE MUD!
