A common mistake people make when it comes to hiring a pest control service is that they aren’t specific when describing their pest issues.
Why talking specifics is better than being general with a pest control service
A couple things people are familiar with and can relate to are going to the doctor or the mechanic. When you seek help or treatment from these professionals you go to them most often with specific issues.
If you don’t know what’s wrong, you will spend more money, waste more time, and it will take much longer to get the results you want. It’s the same with pest control.
If you were to go to a mechanic and say “something is wrong, but you don’t know what”, or say that “everything isn’t working”, it would take a long time to figure out the problem. Not only would this take a long time to determine the issue, but it would also cost a lot more to pay someone to check over and try and fix everything that might be broken.
Same with the doctor example. Let’s say you were having knee problems, would you go in to the doctor and say you hurt everywhere and expect to get an appointment faster, or would you still have to schedule a time to diagnose the problem and determine treatment.
Similarly with hiring a pest control service. You won’t get the best -available, targeted service if you claim to have bugs everywhere and all kinds of bug problems vs saying something like you have been starting to see spiders in the basement.
How to save yourself time and money when you hire a pest control service
When you are specific and accurately describe your situation with pests, not only will this save time, but also money. If the pest control service knows exactly the issues they are needing to solve, they can better determine what products to use, application tools and methods appropriate for the situation, and where to use them.
Not only will this save you both time, but also money by not having the pest control company using products and doing treatments that aren’t necessary and aren’t necessarily designed specifically for the pest in question. As the old saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Try and pay attention to details of what location you are seeing pests, how frequent, what times of day, and what kinds of pests you are seeing. The better job you can do of gathering details up front the quicker and more effective the treatments will be from the pest control service.
