Integrated Pest Management or (IPM) is a sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of logical practices to increase the effectiveness of a pest control program. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycle of pests and their environment. This information in combination with available pest control methods is used to control pests in the most effective way. IPM is not a single control method, but rather a series of management evaluations and decisions to control the target pest in the most cost effective and timely means possible.
Not all insects require control and some are even beneficial such as earth worms and honey bees. IPM programs strive to identify the cause and source of any pest problem and incorporate the different methods to reduce and control unwanted visitors. Simple actions such as reducing outdoor lighting, trimming bushes and shrubs away from the building, removing yard clutter from the foundation, and sealing entry points
Work in a partnership with our customers in an IPM program increases the effectiveness of control programs. While IPM does not eliminate the need to apply material altogether, the amount of products being used are significantly reduced while increasing the effectiveness of the control program and further protecting the environment in which we live.
