Hudson Rodent Control

Down at the Kozy Korner, it is easy to find great food and conversation with our fellow Hudson populace. Cozy corners are attractive to mammals in far greater spheres than just the humans. Rodents throughout Hudson have a keen eye for finding protected corners where they can hang out, find some food, reproduce, and yes, leave droppings for us to find. Sometimes these droppings show up in the corners of the silverware drawer. Other times they may be under that box in the corner of the basement. No place is out of reach of the rodent paws that hunt for food and shelter. Hudson rodent control is necessary to protect our homes, businesses, and even yards from these unwanted invaders.

Entry

Rodents aren’t made of jelly and don’t have superhero entry powers but they can squeeze through some impressively small spaces. If they can get their head through, they can get the rest of their body through. This may be a quarter of an inch gap. This makes rodent exclusion both an essential part of Hudson rodent control as well as a difficult and frustrating task. Luckily, if you find this to be a task for someone else, our rodent team members are happy to take this on for you.

Food

I have heard that rodents are picky with what they eat. I have also heard they will eat just about anything. Which is it? Well, with rodents, both can be true. If a rodent finds something that it likes, it is going to show preference to eating that food over other options. Sometimes this preference will stop them from even trying other food sources because they know the original to be good enough and safe. As people try to get rodents to take bait from a trap or a bait station and the rodent refuses because it already has a good and trusted food source, they label them as finicky. Baits in Hudson rodent control should be aligned with known food preferences.

A rodent’s ability to eat just about anything comes into play in the variety of situations we find rodents in such as:

  • Pet food
  • Dried goods
  • Treats from our candy dishes
  • Crumbs on the floor
  • Food left out
  • Trash

The list honestly goes on and on. They have an uncanny ability to pick up on scents from long distances away and through materials that make smells impervious to our noses. They will chew through packaging to get to the food, so finding sturdy thick containers is the way to enclose and protect food in Hudson rodent control.

Health

Rodents and health are a two-pronged fork. We must be grateful to them for the assistance they provide us in testing various chemicals, drugs, etc. If it weren’t for their similarity to us, these experiments we run would not be helpful at all. For this, I am grateful for rodents.

The other side of the coin comes in the form of a laundry list of pathogens that rodents introduce into our lives through their saliva, parasites, droppings, and even simply carrying germs from their harborage spots to our food preparation areas. Rodents are a matter of personal and public health and should be treated as such. A solid Hudson rodent control plan is a plan of health and well-being.

Restricting Rodent Access

Hudson rodent control starts with constant attention and awareness. Our rodent team members do seasonal inspections for signs of rodents as well as susceptible points of population development or entry. Control measures can also be applied to the exterior of buildings to keep the rodent pressure off of the interior. Traps, bait stations, and exclusion are the rest of the equation. It is important to remember that each home and business requires a personalized rodent control plan.
